Say NO to Human Trafficking:
By: Savannah Boren and Ye Rin Lee Human trafficking needs to be stopped due to the profuse population that is being trafficked for sex, organs, and labor. It is important to stop trafficking because it ruins many lives and hurts many people. Our nonprofit organization is raising awareness for the following three anti-sex trafficking organizations: Breaking Free, ABC Nepal, and Centre to End All Sexual Exploitation (CEASE). These groups take action for many different reasons; they all have their own reasons for helping. Breaking Free wants to recognize sex trafficking as a form of violence; they want people to know that sex trafficking is offensive and wrong. ABC Nepal wants to bring attention to trade in all people and raise awareness for the violation of Human Rights. CEASE wants to support people that were hurt or abused, they want to build a better future. CEASE also wants to acknowledge the transformation people go through and they want to respect them for it. These groups have their own reasons for taking action, but they all have the same goal. These groups publicize their causes in different ways and through different outlets. Breaking Free publicizes their causes through housing and giving help to those who were trafficked. They want the public to see how something small can make a huge difference. ABC Nepal publicizes their cause by offering leadership and development classes to those who want to help the trafficked and those who were trafficked. ABC Nepal also publicizes their cause through their rehabilitation program. CEASE publicizes their cause by informing the public through stories of trafficked men and women on their website. They also hold public workshops to inform the public on what CEASE does. These organization things are all publicized differently, but they all have the same effect on the public. These organizations encourage people to take action in their communities and internationally. Breaking Free is an international organization that encourages people through programs, like housing for women. ABC Nepal encourages people to take action by rescuing women and girls from circuses and other places where they are held. ABC Nepal is local and national to Nepal. CEASE raises money, councils the hurt, and coaches the hurt and helpers. They encourage people to take action by taking action themselves. They are an international organization. These organizations may have different ways of encouraging people, but they all encourage someone. Each of these organizations websites contain facts but also persuasion. Breaking Free’s website is made to persuade; it does not inform as much as it persuades. It is accurate to a point because the persuasion is greater than the information given. ABC Nepal’s website is made to be factual and informative instead of persuasive. It is accurate more than it is inaccurate. It gives a lot of information and very little persuasion. CEASE's website is made to be persuasive and not really factual, at all. It is made to guilt-trip people. This website is not accurate because it guilts people into feeling terrible. These organizations’ websites are not completely accurate but some of them can be more accurate than others.

Is the Internet Controlling Your Life?
By: Savannah Boren and Hannah Fritch Does the internet control your life? How do you use the internet, and how often? Most people use the internet excessively and it causes them to miss important moments in their lives. People use the internet everyday for research, entertainment, communication, and to shop or deal with money. People use the internet for almost anything. According to https://www.beforeitsnews.com, the internet is used for “communication, research, education, financial transactions, real time updates, leisure, online booking, job searching, blogging, and shopping.” For example, learners are using the internet more because more information is being added to the internet everyday. Due to this use of the internet, internet usage is likely to grow in the near future. Internet usage is constantly growing every second; therefore, it will be expansive in the future. However, like anything, the internet has a limit. People will most likely be consumed by the internet so much that it cannot grow or expand any further. You may be thinking about the internet usage and asking yourself, why is internet usage growing so fast? Well, according to https://www.internetworldstats.com, internet usage is growing so fast due to “social communities, research opportunities, and shorter distances.” The internet usage will expand immensely and people will start to use the internet for more and more each day. People use the internet for all of the wonderful benefits it offers. According to https://www.teach-ict.com, the main benefits of the internet are that “it is always available, it has a vast range of information, and it makes it easy to contact people.” The internet can be reached from almost anywhere in the world; therefore, it is beneficial to almost every country. On the other hand, we have to justify for the countries/areas of the world that don’t get to have a lot of internet or internet access. The percentage of countries and their ability to access the internet varies upon their population. In Asia, where the population is 922,329,554, their ability to access the internet is a 22.14%. However, then you have to look at Oceania/Australia where their population is 21,293,830; where their ability to access the internet is a 58.19%. Still, you have to consider the third world countries like in Africa, their population is 118,609,620 and their accessibility to the internet is the lowest at 11.6%. People use the internet for everything, but only when they have access to it. As you can see from all the information that has been presented, the internet has its varying uses like shopping, research, communication, and education. People use the internet all the time, when they are able, for all of it’s benefits and features. The internet is a useful tool, and a distracting one. Use the internet wisely. |
